The botanical enclosure
pictured above (right), is part of Sydney’s suite of
visually striking architectural features including the
Centrepoint Tower, Harbour Bridge & the Opera House.
Galvanized steel tube was selected to provide durability in
the warm, humid interior created to replicate tropical
climates favorable to the plantings. The exterior glazing is
supported by purlins attached to the Triodetic frame &
sealed using the batten system. The original gardens were
established in 1816 and are the oldest scientific
institution in Australia. |
